At APE, we fabricate precision components, structures, and systems for robotics, aerospace, automation, energy, and manufacturing companies. Every project is different. Every part is one-off. Our customers come to us because they need something built right, not just built fast — and we hold ourselves to that standard on every job. This role sits at the intersection of design and production. You'll use SolidWorks to review and refine solutions and then work directly on the floor with machinists and fabricators to ensure those solutions are executed correctly. When something needs to change, you'll figure out how — and you won't wait to be told. Who thrives here Your background might be in engineering, or it might be in fabrication. What matters is that you've spent enough time in both worlds to know how a design decision plays out on the floor. You hold yourself to a high standard — not because someone's watching, but because you care about the quality of your work. You notice details that others miss. You'd rather take an extra hour to get it right the first time than spend two days dealing with rework. You find something satisfying about a part that comes out exactly as it should. A degree in engineering is a plus. Floor time, fabrication experience, and the ability to think through a manufacturing problem from first principles matter more. What you'll be responsible for Design weldments, sheetmetal, solid bodies, and assemblies in SolidWorks — shop drawings produced to a standard that fabricators can work from without calling you over Program laser cutting nests for sheetmetal Determine how customer-designed parts will be manufactured — means, methods, sequence Work daily alongside machinists, and fabricators to keep production moving and solve problems as they arise Manage your projects through to delivery — schedule, vendors, quality Develop and own QC plans for your projects What we're looking for Hands-on experience in metal fabrication, welding, or machining — you know how parts are made, not just how they're drawn SolidWorks proficiency, or strong CAD skills and a demonstrated ability to get up to speed fast Attention to detail that shows up in your work, not just your resume Enough organizational sense to track a project with many moving parts and stay ahead of problems CNC programming experience is a genuine advantage We're a small team with high standards.
