Assists with the planning and implementation of weekly theme orientated schedules, field trips, educational components, community service projects, arts-n-crafts, children's games, active games, special events, and the overall promotion of the programs as guided by the Recreation Supervisor and Program Coordinator.Work Hours Monday thru Friday positions, up to 35 hours per weekWeekdays 6:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides constant supervision and leadership for the program participants.Assists the Recreation Supervisor, Program Coordinator and Kids Klub Supervisor in developing the schedule of activities.Instructs and leads the participants in the following activities; arts-n-crafts, storytelling, cooperative games, educational components, community service projects, etc.Serves as chaperone for all youth field trips and special events.Works with the Recreation Department office to keep the parents and children informed of any scheduled changes.Performs daily safety inspections of playground facilities and equipment, reporting any problem areas to Recreation Supervisor.Records daily attendance and tracks that participants are pre-paid, otherwise notifying the Recreation Supervisor so participants can be billed.Handles the questions and complaints of parents in the best most tactful manner possible.Always wears a Recreation Department Staff Shirt when working.Always the last person to leave the designated program site, making sure all children are safely on their way home.Meets with Recreation Supervisor for performance evaluations.Performs related duties as directed by the Recreation Supervisor and Kids Klub Supervisor.Typical QualificationsKnowledge and experience in supervision of children in an educational or recreational setting, skills in communication and public relations, and ability to effectively plan, organize, and implement recreational activities (i.e., arts-n-crafts, active games etc.). First Aid and CPR certifications recommended.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge and experience in supervision of children.Some experience leading arts-n-crafts, active games, and cooperative games.Some experience in teaching children in an educational or recreational setting.
