This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional healthcare that improves their health and well-being.Psychiatrist Key Responsibilities:Typical shift M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm, Night, Weekend, Holiday call by rotationProtected administrative timeEvaluate and manage patients admitted to mental health inpatient service, and outpatient clinics including performing history and physical examinations.Provide coverage to evaluate and manage mental health veterans in the local area Emergency Department, and consultation liaison service as needed.Write prescriptions including controlled medications, order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.Provide education, counseling, and documentation to patients and patients' families in preventive care, medical treatments, and the use of prescribed medications.What We Offer:Competitive Salary: $220,000 - $250,000Generous Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays.Retirement Benefits: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with up to 5% contributions by VA.Comprehensive Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care, with many programs carrying into retirement.Flexibility: No physician employment contract and no significant restriction onProfessional Development: Up to 5-day paid absence and reimbursement of $1,000 per yearMalpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage providedPreferred Experience:Board Certified or Board Eligible inProficiency in performing evaluations and providing treatment to Veterans in inpatient and outpatient settings.Must be a U.S. Citizen.
