Director, Purchasing & Planning

Director, Purchasing & Planning GourmetGiftBaskets.com is currently seeking a Director, Purchasing & Planning to join our team. Our Director, Purchasing & Planning is a combination of analytical and tactical (hands-on) responsibilities including all purchasing and planning activities relating to our production processes. Additional responsibilities include the coordination of material requirements with our Product, Marketing, Production and Sales teams to support short and long term forecasts; monitoring the actual output versus the production plan and identifying gaps and driving solutions; generating, expediting and adjusting purchase orders ensuring inventory levels are aligned with production schedule requirements, managing excess inventory in coordination with our Inventory Manager, reviewing supplier performance on a regular and timely basis and much more. We seek a teammate with strong business acumen, excellent reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills, who is able to build strong inter-departmental relationships and “hit the ground running.” A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of managing suppliers and vendors is required. The ability to react swiftly when faced with challenges of varying complexity is necessary. Understanding of an online e-commerce environment is preferred combined with exemplary verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite – with expert-level skills in Excel - and experience with MRP systems is highly desired. Ability to work extended hours during peak holiday timeframes is required.
