Engineering Support roles encompass a diverse range of positions that provide technical assistance and expertise to engineering teams across various disciplines. These roles may involve tasks such as conducting research, performing analyses, and assisting in the design and development of engineering projects. Engineering support professionals work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.
Discipline Description
Engineering specialists support engineers in the design, modification, improvement, and maintenance of products, processes, and systems in support of nuclear facility operations and missions. Activities include identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. They may develop/configure software and/or applications. They monitor processes, estimate costs, make, or verify calculations, and analyze and interpret data. They test new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.
Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is seeking to hire an Experienced Commissioning Engineer with the ability to perform moderately complex work relative to startup. Primary responsibilities will include: - Plan and coordinate assigned work requiring adherence to standard startup, testing and operations techniques. - Evaluate, select and apply standard startup and operations techniques, guidelines, procedures and criteria exercising independent judgement. - Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of startup, operations or maintenance for a project. - Review designs for plant operability, safety, and jobsite pre-commissioning. - Assist with the preparation of operations manuals. - Plan, guide or prepare project administrative and technical documents as required for startup, maintenance, operations or testing. - Coordinate startup between project engineering, construction, specialty staff groups, clients and vendors. - Assume a lead technical role over other engineers for specific tasks as assigned. - Direct overall startup or testing activities on specific assignments. - Train assigned personnel and assist them in their professional development. - Provide technical direction and assign work to engineers, technicians, crafts or others as assigned for specific projects or tasks. - Perform Readiness Review Assessments.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field * Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Associate's degree in a technical discipline with work experience in startup, operations, maintenance, or testing preferred. United States Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program Experience preferred. Basic knowledge of pertinent industry or regulatory standards Basic knowledge of construction or field engineering, of engineering systems, and applications of startup/test methods. Basic knowledge of code, mathematics, computers Basic communication skills.

Security Clearance Information
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
