Construction Project ManagerLocation: Sacramento, CA (Remote-first with office & local site visits)About the CompanyOur client is a leading project controls and project management consulting organization with 30+ years of experience delivering project management, project controls, and technology project management solutions for major capital programs across transportation, utilities, oil & gas, and water throughout the U.S. The firm is a certified Federal SDVOSB and State of California SB/DVBE, supporting high-visibility infrastructure programs that require strong governance, stakeholder coordination, and performance-driven execution.Position OverviewThis role supports Major Projects delivering large-scale, high-complexity infrastructure projects in the Sacramento, California area. This program is working on undergrounding and hardening infrastructure in high-risk zones and upgrading substations and transmission systems.You'll serve as the primary point of contact and partner with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external agencies to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery.Location / Work ScheduleThis role is based in the Sacramento area and is remote-first, with occasional office and local site visits based on project needs.CompensationSalary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 annuallyThis is the pay range the company reasonably expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. In some cases, the company may offer compensation above this range for exceptionally qualified candidates, subject to business needs and approvals.Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end delivery of major infrastructure projects including scope, schedule, cost, resources, risk, and communicationsDefine project objectives, deliverables, and execution plans aligned to stakeholder requirementsDevelop and maintain detailed work plans including schedule, cost forecasts, contingencies, and resource planningTrack and report project performance against budget, schedule, and scope; drive resolution of performance issuesManage project documentation, approvals, and change control processesDevelop, monitor, and update cash flow projections and financial forecastsCoordinate vendor, contractor, and internal team deliverables; track progress and resolve roadblocksManage tasks and scheduling in project management systems (e.g., EPM tools, Work Management systems, Microsoft Project)Identify risks and implement mitigation and contingency plansApply quality standards, review deliverables, and communicate variances to stakeholdersCapture lessons learned and apply best practices across programsProvide consistent project updates and status reporting to leadership and key stakeholdersManage multiple active projects concurrently while maintaining accountability and timelines Additional ResponsibilitiesProvide technical and analytical guidance to the project teamSupport issue resolution through structured analysis and corrective action plansOversee administration of low-risk EPC contracts (per project guidelines)Coordinate with government agencies and external stakeholders as neededMentor Associate-level Project Managers for development and project support QualificationsMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience3+ years of experience in project management, project controls, engineering, and/or construction (major infrastructure or utility preferred) Preferred QualificationsPMP certification preferredExperience supporting electric utility infrastructure such as substations, transmission, and distribution projectsWorking knowledge of project management and financial tools (e.g., SAP Financials, Work Management modules, Microsoft Project)Strong independent judgment and decision-making using project management best practicesAbility to support local site visits and wear required PPE SmartHire DisclaimerThis job description provides only a summary of the typical functions associated with this role and is not intended to represent an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all responsibilities, tasks, or duties.
