OverviewThe Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with design and analysis of structures or structural elements, providing contract administrative duties associated with the project, routine correspondence, field dimensioning, and meeting project schedules.Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssist in the development, preparation, and finalization of project documents.Responsible for contract administration duties, such as responding to RFI's, and checking shop drawings / submittals.Designs load-bearing structures or structural elements.Performs analysis of building materials for use in construction.Develops plans and specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations.Determines cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations.Provides reports detailing investigations and assessment of damages to the structure.Customer Service SkillsDemonstrates commitment to deliver outstanding service – both with design team and external clientsTakes ownership to personally resolve problems (or find someone who can)Listens well, asks clarifying questions, and checks for agreement with team and clientCommitted to following up with clients in all instances in a timely mannerStrong sense of accountability - ensures that you will do what you say that you are going to doCreates a personal connection – friendly and respectfulRequirements / QualificationsEducation / Experience:Bachelor's degree in related field.3 – 6 years' experienceKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesUnderstands project plans and specificationsSeeks guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standardsOpen to feedback and flexible to changeStrong prioritization and organizational skills, detail-orientedProficient with various structural design software (RISA Suite, Enercalcs, MS Excel)Earns trust and takes additional ownership of projects, results and customer serviceConfidently presents self to internal stakeholders and external customersTakes responsibility for many vendor and customer relationshipsUnderstands jobsite environment and reviews jobsite progress with little to no supervisionAbility to lead an assignment/special project from start to finishMakes decisions independently depending on level of complexityAbility to be strategic/think critically and analyticallyAbility to navigate and mitigate riskInitiates and maintains relationships with key staff and other departmentsContributes to the company above and beyond project(s)Assist in development/mentoring of Level 1Equal Opportunity StatementStratus is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, sex or gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, pregnancy-related conditions, and lactation), gender identity or expression (including transgender status), sexual orientation, marital status, military service and veteran status, physical or mental disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws and ordinances.
