Job Description for Medical TechnologistFacility: Oak Hill HospitalLocation: 11375 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613Shift: Full-time (rotating weekends)Shift Hours: Nights, 10 PM - 6:30 AM (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts)Job Summary: As a Medical Technologist, you will perform both stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in technical discipline areas under the direction of a Laboratory Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Your role involves ensuring timely and accurate results through the application of theoretical concepts of laboratory medicine using independent judgment. Additionally, you will maintain licensure and competency, support regulatory requirements in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology, and perform non-technical duties such as specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as required. You will also assist in achieving departmental goals related to service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, and the integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.Job Responsibilities:Become proficient with information system computer functions related to job duties.Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing.Follow section procedure manuals to maintain organized workflow.Analyze proficiency testing samples and complete within the allowable time frame.Assume departmental responsibility in the supervisor's absence.Complete all required documentation for patient results accurately.Perform stat procedures within established turnaround times.Use good judgment and independent thinking to correlate and interpret patient results, including performing delta checks.Review pending and result logs, resolving any outstanding workload or communicating to relief staff.Perform quality control procedures per protocol and complete necessary documentation.Ensure quality control results are within acceptable guidelines and take corrective action when needed.Assist the supervisor in meeting department regulatory requirements (e.g., CAP).Operate equipment correctly and perform periodic maintenance as scheduled.Perform basic equipment troubleshooting to resolve malfunctions.Assist in monitoring and appropriately utilizing reagent and supply inventories.Maintain education and development appropriate for the position.Handle problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results according to established procedures in a timely manner.Qualifications:A 2-year/Associate Degree is required.A 4-year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is preferred.A State of Florida Technologist License is required or the ability to obtain a license during the interview process.A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist is required.Additional Information:Must have at least 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist.Salary Range: $27.09 - $37.92 per hour.On Call: $2 per hour.Night Differential: $2.50 per hour.Sign-On Bonus: $10K for night shift, $5K for day shift.Share resume on:
