Applicants should be made aware of specific requirements prior to employment.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or collegeValid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement in the subject areaSuccessful teaching and/or practice teaching experienceSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriateSuccessfully pass district background checkREPORTS TO: Building AdministratorRECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Building AdministratorJOB GOAL: To organize and facilitate a productive learning environment which provides opportunities and access for students to: master appropriate levels of subject matter aligned to standards, develop effective communication skills, foster an appreciation of our culture and heritage, promote a positive classroom climate, build effective relationships, and role model respect for the rights of others. The classroom teacher shall assist the student in his/her development as a mature, able and responsible adult.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month school year or as established by the Board of EducationEVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation PolicyESSENTIAL DUTIES:Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job functionImplements Board policy regarding education philosophy/curriculum under the direction of the administration through planning, organizing, managing, interacting with students; establishing rapport with students, staff, parents and community, and continuing professional developmentPlans instructional objectives and activities consistent with curriculum guidesEffectively utilizes the district Instructional ModelDirects and supervises learning activitiesImplements the disciplinary procedures of the districtSupervises behavior in the school environment to maintain the safety and well being of the students and staffKeeps accurate records of attendance, absences and tardinessCollaborates with others in a Professional Learning CommunityUses an appropriate variety of instructional strategiesMakes effective use of audio-visual materials and aidsCommunicates positive support of students in their educational developmentRecognizes the exemplary influence of the educator over the studentRelates with staff, parents and community stakeholders through positive professional cooperationSupervises hallways, cafeteria, study halls, and other assignments on a scheduled basis as directedINTERPERSONAL SKILLS:Student behavior does not detract from the effective learning climate in the classroomTeacher exhibits patience, openness, and concern in dealing with studentsRapport within and outside the classroom evidences mutual respect between the students and teacherTeacher exhibits tact and self-control in dealing with parentsAccepts suggestions from administrators with self reflection and a growth mindset.OCCASIONAL:Periodically issues communication forms and grade reportsSuggests positive recommendations for the continuing review and development of curriculumRemains current with professional training and shows evidence of regular professional growthActively participates at scheduled staff meetings, PLC's, and serves on educational committeesAssumes responsibility periodically for conferences with parentsRecognizes the extra curriculum program as integral to the educational development of the childPerforms other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the appropriate administratorOTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory):Effective oral and written communication skillsSkills in leadership, organization, problem solving and conflict resolutionSkills in human relations; ability to deal with a variety of peopleAbility to work under stressSkills in assessment and evaluationWORK ENVIRONMENT/ CONDITIONS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
