Vet Assistant- Temporary

Kickingbird Animal Hospital is seeking a reliable, motivated Temporary Veterinary Assistant to support our medical team during the busy summer season. This role is essential in helping maintain efficient patient flow, delivering quality patient care, and supporting veterinarians and technicians in daily operations.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatmentSafely restrain animals for exams, procedures, and treatmentsPrepare exam rooms, surgical areas, and treatment spacesClean and sterilize instruments and maintain a sanitary work environmentSupport with laboratory sample collection and processing (as directed)Feed, walk, and monitor hospitalized patientsMaintain accurate patient records and assist with documentation as neededStock supplies and ensure exam/treatment areas are fully equippedProvide compassionate care to patients and professional communication with team membersAssist with client interactions as needed, including basic education and discharge instructionsQualificationsPrevious experience in a veterinary setting preferred but not requiredAbility to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperamentsStrong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and teamwork skillsAbility to follow directions and maintain attention to detailMust be dependable and punctualPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 40+ poundsStanding, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periodsAbility to handle animals safely, including those that may be stressed or fractiousSchedule ExpectationsAvailability between May and September, including weekends as neededFlexibility to support increased patient volume during peak seasonPotential for extended hours during high-demand periodsIf you are a current associate, you will need to apply through our internal career site.
