Do not include a phote with your application/resume.Licensed, dedicated Exceptional Children's teacher needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville, NC.The purpose of the EC teacher is to plan, organize and present instruction and create instructional environments that help students with a variety of communication, academic and behavioral needs to learn content and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development and make progress/meet IEP goals. The EC teacher is expected to plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum and evidence-based instruction. The teacher should be well versed in and understand Policy Governing Exceptional Children. Be prepared to provide leadership and coordination as well as facilitate the efficient operation of student IEPs and collaborate with other members of the department in addition to content area personnel to align curriculum while providing access for students with Individual Educational Plans.Salary based on IC Imagine's Certified/ Licensed Teachers Salary ScheduleDuties and Responsibilities:Understand the needs of students they are working with based on Individual Education Plan, Behavior Intervention Plans, Health & Safety plansAssist in creating and implementing behavior intervention plansAbility to create lesson plans, modify or adapt curriculum to make content accessible and align to grade level standards, and address IEP goalsMonitor progress of academic, behavioral, and social/emotional goalsFrequent written communication with parents and families of studentsRegular and consistent communication with colleagues and administratorsCoordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistantsPlan and facilitate activities to support the transition needs of caseload studentsManage instructional time efficientlyPrepare for instruction by creating lesson plans, organizing materials, supplies, and equipmentUse resources necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional practices necessary to follow the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught.Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment.Support inclusive practices to support accessibility to grade level standardsProvide instruction to students in the least restrictive environment within the continuum of servicesCollaborate with general education, teachers, support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, keep attendance and goal progress monitoring data, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information regarding student IEP goal progress and courses delivered in special education.Will perform additional duties including, but not limited to, supervision during non-instructional time, attending after school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities leading into and during the Open Enrollment period.Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.Skills and Abilities:Able to deliver quality and meaningful evidence-based instruction to students with disabilitiesAble to support inclusive practices through adapting instruction and curriculum to support students with low incidence disabilities to access and participate in general education to the greatest extent appropriate for the studentAble to provide direct instruction to students with intensive communication, academic, and behavioral needs in a welcoming and nurturing environmentSkilled in problem solving and decision makingAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and in writingMaintain effective working relationshipsPossess strong time management skillsAbility to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environmentAbility to evaluate instructional programs and select programs that match student instructional needsProficiency with GSuite and ECATS is preferredEducation and Experience:Minimum Bachelor's DegreeValid North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children: General Curriculum or related exceptional children area or valid out of state teaching license in comparable area to be converted to NC license within first year of employment1 year teaching experience preferredExperience writing Individual Educational PlansKnowledge of the Child Find Process and Policies Governing Students with DisabilitiesKnowledge of and skilled in progress monitoring of academic, behavioral, and social/emotional skillsExperience with instructional design & delivery and IEP implementationExperience delivering structured literacy and math programsPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching and bendingProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
