Job Title You are responsible for meeting with the school's administration for your specific daily job duties.Qualifications 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalentBusiness school training or office experience that reflects a high level of skill in typing, filing and general office proceduresCommunication skills which encompass the ability to relate to students and adults and to speak and write standard EnglishFingerprints up to dateAttend a substitute safety meetingBe added to the approved substitute listReports To:School PrincipalSupervises:NoneJob Goal:To organize or direct, as designated by the school principal, all activities related to the operation and maintenance of the school office and financesTerm:Ten (10) Months or Eleven (11) Months or Twelve (12) MonthsSalary:School Secretary, Level IIIPerformance Responsibilities:To follow the general bookkeeping regulations as established by the Rapides Parish School BoardTo follow established procedures in emergency situationsTo maintain an up-date file of student informationTo consistently maintain a neat, clean, and well organized work spaceTo inform parents, according to established policy, when children are sick or hurtTo utilize standard office procedures in letter writing, filing and bookkeepingTo employ telephone techniques which are reflective of a positive, professional and ethical school environmentTo demonstrate sociability and warmth in attitude towards students, staff, parents, vendors and other school visitorsTo avoid unnecessary class interruptions as indicated by Rapides Parish School BoardTo maintain a desk calendar as it relates to due dates of work projects, memos, and reportsTo be neat and accurate in completing assigned records and reports, turning these in promptly and on timeTo remain at school during the work day unless permission is obtained from the principalTo follow federal, state, local and assigned school laws, policies, and proceduresTo sign in and out by the appropriate method of the assigned schoolTo use language that is void of vulgarity, lewdness, coarseness, or profanityTo observe all policies and regulations as outlined in the Drug Free Workplace ActTo demonstrate ability to adjust to new situations, showing poise in crisis or pressure situations, mature understanding of problemsTo be in attendance and on time at work, except for personal illness or emergency, as defined by the policies of the Rapides Parish School BoardTo be loyal to the administration of the school system and the schoolTo be professionally dressed and well groomed, as established by the principal, according to board policyTo maintain a schedule of systems and procedures that are reflective of good time managementTo perform any other duties assigned by the principal
