Senior Data Engineer

The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in Master Data Management and DevOps. This role will design, build, and maintain automation solutions that support infrastructure operations, workflow orchestration, data integration and interoperability, observability, and service reliability. The ideal candidate will manage the provisioning and administering of Azure infrastructure components (compute, storage, networking, and data integration services) and maintain the platform’s overall architecture, performance, and availability. This role will be responsible for the cloud platform’s security posture, including identity and access governance, network security, encryption, and manage cloud spend.CompetenciesExcellent communication skills and ability to communicate with our clients.7+ years experience with enterprise data management.5+ years experience in defining Master Data Management strategies, implementing MDM services and capabilities, Metadata and Reference data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality Management.5+ years of IT infrastructure or cloud engineering experience, including significant hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure environments.Hands-on experience required with Data Management practices and tools - Profisee preferred.Azure certification(s) strongly preferred (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert).Hands-on experience managing cloud security posture, including identity governance, network security, and data protection in a regulated or compliance-sensitive environment.Strong experience with cloud cost optimization/FinOps, including tools such as Azure Cost Management, Power BI cost dashboards, or third-party FinOps platforms.Experience with monitoring and observability tooling (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).Ability to support data engineering and data warehouse teams’ infrastructure needs (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Server/Azure SQL).Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps/CI-CD practices.Strong knowledge of network architecture, backup/disaster recovery strategy, and database or platform access control.Experience working with key stakeholders and diverse business units to drive business success.Ability to communicate technology concepts to non-technology staff and at all levels of the organization.Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to coordinate and facilitate activities with colleagues.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, can multi-task, and have good verbal and written communication skills.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with multiple internal/external stakeholders to implement, administer, and optimize end-to-end MDM Platform & DevOps solutions.Plan and lead MDM requirement analysis sessions with Data Governance and Data Architecture.Research, develop, automate, and support MDM workflows and data storage designs including Metadata and Reference data management.Collaborate with other technology teams to integrate machine learning models for entity resolution, data de-duplication, and enrichment within the MDM platform.Develop real-time and batch integration solutions using APIs, ETL processes, and event-driven architectures to enable seamless data exchange between MDM and enterprise applications.Prepare and update user, design, and technical documentation.Continuously research and evaluate new MDM technologies, techniques, and AI/ML advancements to optimize data management processes, while staying informed about industry standards and emerging trends.Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing administration of Microsoft Azure data platform infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and data integration services.Design and maintain a scalable, well-governed Azure environment which includes resource groups, subscriptions, virtual networks, and storage accounts which supports Azure Data Factory, Synapse/Azure SQL, and other data platform workloads.Implement and maintain security controls across the cloud platform, including Azure AD/Entra ID role-based access control, network security groups, private endpoints, encryption at rest and in transit, and Key Vault-based secrets management, in coordination with the security and compliance teams.Monitor and analyze Azure consumption and spend, build cost visibility dashboards and showback/chargeback reporting, and identify and implement rightsizing, reserved capacity, and other optimization opportunities.Establish and maintain infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform) and automation practices to ensure consistent, repeatable provisioning of data platform environments.Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics) to maintain platform health, performance, and availability, and lead incident response and root-cause analysis for infrastructure issues.Design and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies for the cloud data platform.Lead cross-functional governance and compliance initiatives with DIGITAL and other units in areas such as Security, Privacy, and Compliance, driving consensus on cloud standards and ensuring the platform meets the needs of diverse stakeholders.Partner closely with data architects and engineers to provision and configure environments that support data warehouse, business intelligence, and AI/ML workloads.Research, evaluate, and pilot emerging Azure and cloud technologies, and present recommendations to leadership to advance cloud and infrastructure maturity.
