Chief Financial Officer
Providence Staffing’s client, a well-established and growing personal injury law firm, is seeking a best-in-class Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the firm’s financial strategy and operations in Atlanta, GA. This executive-level leader will provide accurate, timely financial data, strategic insights, and risk management oversight while partnering closely with ownership and executive leadership to support long-term growth and profitability.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on financial leader with experience in professional services or legal environments, who understands contingency-based revenue models and is eager to be part of a high‑performing, growth‑oriented firm.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
Oversee all finance and accounting operations of the law firm.
Provide strategic financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting to support firm growth.
Develop financial models related to case valuation, settlement timing, and cash flow forecasting.
Advise executive leadership on financial implications of business decisions and expansion initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and financial controls.
Accounting, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local financial and tax regulations.
Oversee trust accounting (IOLTA), settlement accounting, and case‑related disbursements.
Manage internal controls, audits, and financial reporting processes.
Oversee tax planning, filings, and coordination with external CPAs and auditors.
Monitor and manage financial risk, including case costs, expenses, and contingent liabilities.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Manage firm cash flow, including forecasting settlement inflows and operational expenses.
Oversee banking relationships, lines of credit, and access to capital as needed.
Ensure appropriate liquidity to support payroll, marketing spend, and case costs.
Provide ongoing analysis of revenue trends and expense management.
Executive & Board Support
Prepare and present financial reports to ownership and executive leadership.
Provide data‑driven insights to support strategic decision‑making.
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the Managing Partner and leadership team.
Benefits & Vendor Oversight
Oversee benefits administration, including 401(k) reviews, healthcare renewals, and business insurance.
Manage relationships with payroll providers, benefits brokers, banks, and financial vendors.
Support HR leadership with compensation planning and financial benchmarking.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a CFO or senior financial leader within a law firm or professional services organization (personal injury experience strongly preferred).
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; MBA preferred.
10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience.
Strong understanding of contingency‑fee revenue models and legal financial operations.
Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
CPA is a plus but not required.
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be competitive for the Atlanta market.
