Our team’s extensive expertise ensures superior solutions and unparalleled support tailored to each customer’s unique needs.Role DescriptionThe Director of Operations for Material Handling owns full operational leadership over the Material Handling business unit – driving execution, customer satisfaction, project delivery, field performance, creating performance metrics, and managing the department budget and resources. This position also ensures that projects are delivered safely, profitably and to customer expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Develop and execute operational plans that support growth, margin improvement, and scalable processes. 2. Coordinate closely with leadership across the organization. 3. Champion a safety-first culture across all job sites. 4. Drive standardization of installation methods, safety protocols, and reporting. 5. Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. 6. Work with the Safety department to monitor compliance with company/project safety requirements and ensure corrective measures are implemented. 7. Collaborate and enact plans to improve production, efficiencies, and reduce expenses. 8. Serve as the senior operational point of contact for key customers. 9. Oversee estimating accuracy, bid reviews and risk assessment. 10. Ensure contract compliance and support Contracts Manager in negotiations and change management. 11. Partner with HR on recruiting, training, and workforce development for field labor and technical roles. 12. Work closely with Human Resources to address discipline and employee concerns. 13. Ensure the field workforce adheres to all corporate policies and procedures. 14. Ensure software solutions are being utilized by team members as identified by Leadership. 15. Identify and provide learning opportunities for professional growth of team members. 16. Develop and submit capital equipment and capital project requests on a consistent basis for review and approval by Leadership. 17. Ensure consistent and meaningful two-way communication with the field (i.e., Foreman’s Meetings) on a regular basis, assuring the field has a voice and an avenue to produce innovation, efficiencies, and growth. 18. Develop and implement field operations strategies that improve execution and provide additional value to customers in a cost-effective manner. 19. Work closely with fabrication shop Leadership through open lines of communication between field and shop, assuring innovation, efficiencies, and growth in the shop and in the field. 20. Work with and support Project Management staff with all aspects of projects including safety, field coordination, field conditions and other job specific support. 21. Mentor, Coach, Lead and Manage individual performance and personal development of assigned resources. 22. Work with Leadership empowering change and innovation throughout the organization. 23. Recruit and hire team members as required. Managerial responsibilities include but are not limited to: mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; planning, assigning and directing work, and team goal setting and execution. 24. Review and manage the MH Budget 25. Develop and track performance metrics to ensure projects are kept on schedule 26. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.Knowledge and Skill· Excellent management skills related to Project Management· Customer Focus – Maintaining awareness of and seeking to meet of the needs and wants of the customer· Excellent communication skills both oral and written· Leadership Orientation – Actively seeks ways in which to act as a role model, guide, develop and mentor others within the Operations Department; Strong team leadership, team building and facilitation skills· Initiative – Engages in proactive behavior and looks for new project opportunities· Adaptability – Responds effectively to changes in situation or information· Strong financial analytical skills including cost control· Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word and Power Point skillsEducation Requirements· Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience.Experience Requirements· Minimum of eight years of previous operations, service or field or project management experience.· Previous project supervisory experience.Certifications & LicensesProject Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred; industry-specific certifications and/or licenses required; must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
