The instructor prepares students for postsecondary education or entry-level employment in the healthcare field through classroom instruction, hands-on activities, and career exploration.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstruction and CurriculumPlan and deliver standards-based health science instruction aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and CTE competenciesTeach courses in areas such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, health occupations, and healthcare careersIntegrate classroom instruction with laboratory activities, simulations, and hands-on learning experiencesUtilize industry-relevant technology, medical equipment, and instructional tools to enhance learningMonitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment dataPromote safe practices and maintain a safe classroom and laboratory environmentStudent Leadership and Program DevelopmentPromote student leadership, professionalism, and career readiness within the health sciences pathwayCoordinate job shadowing, internships, or clinical experiences when availableDevelop and maintain partnerships with local healthcare providers and community organizationsPromote career exploration and post-secondary opportunities in health science fieldsAssist students in developing career and technical skills aligned with workforce demandsAssessment and CommunicationAssess student learning through formative and summative measuresMaintain accurate student records, grades, and program documentationCommunicate regularly with families regarding student progress and program activitiesParticipate in parent-teacher conferences and school meetingsCollaboration and Professional ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with CTE staff, school personnel, and community partnersParticipate in professional development related to health science education and instructional practicesMaintain program compliance with state and federal CTE requirementsFollow district policies, procedures, and professional standardsSupport school events and activities as assignedOTHER JOB FUNCTIONSAbide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulationsAttend meetings as assignedTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesMaintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policyRemain current on healthcare industry trends and instructional practices in health science educationPerform other duties as assigned by the Building PrincipalKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESStrong knowledge of healthcare practices and CTE standardsEffective instructional planning and classroom/lab management skillsAbility to supervise students in laboratory and simulated clinical environments safelyStrong communication and leadership abilitiesAbility to build positive relationships with students, families, and community partnersOrganizational and time-management skillsWORK ENVIRONMENTAbility to move throughout classroom and laboratory environmentsAbility to supervise students in clinical or community-based learning settings when applicableOccasional lifting of equipment or instructional materialsParticipation in career and technical education activities outside regular school hoursATTENDANCEConsistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this positionFLSA StatusExemptSalary GradeCertifiedTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 month contract yearAnnual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.EVALUATION:Performance will be evaluated by the Building Principal in accordance with district policies and teacher evaluation procedures.Applications will be screened as they are submitted.
