Structural Design Engineer
Structures Design EngineerWe’re redefining air power by building the largest UAV network and the most versatile aircraft systems in the world. Our team is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed for autonomous operations, alongside Command & Control software that enables fleets of autonomous assets to work together under human supervision. The RoleYou will take ownership of airframe structural design, focusing on composite systems that enable high-performance, lightweight aircraft. You’ll be involved from early concept definition through to production release, ensuring designs are structurally sound, efficient to manufacture, and aligned with program goals. This role combines technical depth with hands-on execution in a fast-paced development environment. What You’ll DoOwn the design of composite airframe structures, including primary components and key interfacesConvert system requirements into practical structural layouts that meet weight, strength, and cost targetsBuild and refine 3D CAD models and detailed part definitions using GD&T best practicesPerform initial sizing calculations for structures and joints to guide design decisionsLead design progression from concept through release, including reviews and cross-team alignmentWork closely with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are feasible and scalableDevelop and improve internal design standards, templates, and workflowsSupport rapid prototyping efforts and transition designs into production-ready configurationsProvide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineersCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural solutions integrate effectively and meet certification needsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree is a plus)5+ years of experience in structural design, with a strong focus on composite materialsSolid understanding of composite behavior, laminate design, and load pathsProficiency with CAD tools such as Siemens NX, Fibersim or similarProven experience delivering structural designs across multiple development phasesHands-on familiarity with composite manufacturing, bonding, and assembly processesWorking knowledge of aerospace standards and certification frameworks, including DoD environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience developing new aircraft or working in early-stage product environmentsBackground in composite aircraft structures and bonded assembliesFamiliarity with PLM systems such as TeamcenterNote: eligible for US Citizen or Green card holder only
