About the CompanyMost software never leaves the screen. Ours shows up in mailboxes. DOPE Marketing builds the platform that turns a local business’s customer data into designed, printed, delivered mail — and increasingly, AI does the designing. We made our name automating direct mail. What we’re building now is a technology company, and this is the fun part of that curve to join.About the RoleWe’re hiring a mid-level full-stack engineer. You’ll spend most of your time in our React front end, work across the Rails backend behind it, and own features end to end — scope it, build it, ship it, watch a real business use it that same week. Small team, real ownership, no ticket factory. Your commit doesn’t end at the browser; it ends up printed, in someone’s hands.ResponsibilitiesBuild and ship customer-facing features across our React front end and Rails backend — from campaign builders and analytics dashboards to onboarding and account management flowsOwn features end to end: help scope the work, build it, test it, ship it, and follow up on how it performs with real customersImprove the usability and polish of the product — loading states, error handling, empty states, and the small details that make software feel greatWork with REST APIs and third-party integrations (Stripe, CRMs) and help make them reliable for customersWrite clear, maintainable code and participate in code reviews as both author and reviewerInvestigate and fix bugs across the stack, and help improve performance where it matters to usersCollaborate with teammates across engineering, design, and the wider business to turn customer problems into shipped solutionsQualificationsRoughly 2–7 years of professional experience building web applications — we care more about what you’ve shipped than how long you’ve been shippingStrong hands-on experience with React (components, hooks, state management with Redux or similar)Experience building against and/or building server-side APIs — Rails experience is a plus, but experience in any comparable framework (Django, Laravel, Express/Node, Spring) translates wellComfort working with relational databases and writing the occasional non-trivial SQL queryA product mindset: you ask why a feature matters, think about edge cases from the user’s perspective, and care about the detailsExcellent written and verbal communication — you can explain a technical decision to a non-technical teammateRequired SkillsRuby on Rails experience, or curiosity and enthusiasm to pick it up quicklyProject or product management experience — running sprints, writing specs, coordinating launches, or wearing a PM hat at a smaller companyExperience with Stripe, billing systems, or subscription productsExperience integrating with CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce) or other third-party APIsExperience with data visualization, dashboards, or reporting featuresStartup or small-team experience where you’ve owned features with a lot of autonomy
