Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging results while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining patient comfort. Responsibilities Conduct diagnostic evaluations using nuclear medicine techniques, including PET scans and other medical imaging procedures. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients in accordance with established protocols. Ensure the proper functioning of imaging equipment and perform routine maintenance checks. Maintain a sterile environment by applying aseptic techniques during procedures. Collaborate with physicians to interpret scan results and provide accurate reports on findings. Educate patients about the procedures, addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff. Keep detailed records of procedures performed, including patient information and imaging results. Skills Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to nuclear medicine practices. Proficient in medical terminology related to diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine. Experience with PET scans and other advanced medical imaging technologies. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations accurately and efficiently. Familiarity with aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records.
