Company OverviewContentnea Health is a Community Health Center providing comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services for members of our communities in Greene, Pitt and Pamlico counties in eastern North Carolina.Job SummaryAssists physicians and advanced practice practitioners with patient care and maintains clinical areas.Responsibilities And DutiesAssists medical practitioners with patient carePerforms pre-visit planningObtains vital signs. Performs standing ordersReviews medical histories with patientsPrepares patients for examinations and assists practitioner with examinations and proceduresCollects and processes lab specimensAdministers medications and immunizations. Performs vision and hearing tests, ear irrigation, electrocardiograms, spirometry, wound care, splinting, nebulized therapies, and other clinical ordersEnsures collected data is communicated to practitioner and properly documented in electronic health record (EHR) and other designated databases, such as NCIR. Relays instructions and education to patientsTransmits medication orders/refills to pharmaciesCompletes practitioner-related administrative documentation, including but not limited to durable medical equipment (DME) paperwork and other patient care-related forms, in accordance with organizational policies and payer requirementsProvides temproary support for front desk operations when assigned, which may include patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, telephone support, and patient insurance verificationMaintains clinical areasEnacts OSHA medical office standards for sanitation of intake areas, exam rooms, and laboratory, before, during, and after each patientProperly disposes of medical waste, including sharpsParticipates in inventory, stocking, and organization of medical supplies, medications, and/or immunizations, in exam rooms, laboratory, and storage areas, including crash carts, refrigerators, and freezersParticipates in regular maintenance of medical equipment such as laboratory machines, electrocardiogram machines, nebulizers, glucometers, and defibrillators. Qualifications And SkillsPossesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, technical or health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program.Possesses specific knowledge of medical assisting processes and practices, typically acquired during completion of a certificate in medical assisting or nursing assisting with a duration of up to a year.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Powered by JazzHRpcK4p49LQV
