Summary Description:Under direction, performs technical energy audits and control work. Work of the class involves maintaining and operating automated energy monitoring and control system for controlling heating and cooling of schools and other facilities. Employee monitors operation of system and makes changes and corrections as necessary to maintain desired levels by programming the automated equipment. Employee may also conducts energy audits land surveys of buildings and develops procedures for improving energy management. Physical Demands: Ability to carry up to 50 lbs, will have to climb ladders and work on roofs. Special Requirements: NoneKnowledge Skills Abilities:Considerable knowledge of HVAC systems and controls. Knowledge of energy management computeroperation and programming. Some knowledge of energy conservation techniques and practices withspecific application to schools and large buildings. Ability to analyze and document the effects of systems and operational changes on utility consumption. Ability to carry out established energy conservation practices and procedures. Ability to effectively interface with employees, contractors, utility company representatives and others. Ability to resolve computer-related problems and provide assistance on plant operation problems. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).Education Training Experience:High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Coursework or training in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and controls (HVAC), and computer programming as it relates to energy management systems. Experience in the use of electronics, combustion and HVAC systems testing equipment desirable. Experience in operating and repairing HVAC systems and controls, and experience in computer programming, as it relates to energy management systems. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Possession of a valid Maryland driver^s license (Class D).
