Purpose StatementThe job of Social Worker is done for the purpose/s of facilitating administrative processes; ensuringoperation in compliance with county, state, and/or federal requirements; providing information on servicesavailable to eligible students and families; conveying information regarding school and/or district activitiesand procedures; and referring families to other agencies. This position serves as a key contributor withinthe educational team and functions may vary depending upon site assignment.This job reports to PrincipalEssential FunctionsAssesses student and family needs (e.g. financial, housing, parenting skills, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing individualized plans of services to support educational objectives.Collaborates activities with a variety of outside service agencies, school sites, etc. (e.g. mental health, housing, medical, etc.) for the purpose of providing referrals, materials, and services for families and/or students.Coordinates workshops for parents and/or students (e.g. parenting skills, community resources, district programs, social skill development, etc.) for the purpose of assisting parents in maintaining a positive home environment, building trust between family and district, and supporting student's educational program.Maintains case records and correspondence with families for the purpose of documenting activities and complying with mandated requirements.Mediates conflicts between parents, teachers, and/or students (e.g. parent/teacher, parent/parent, parent/student, student/student, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues that could impede student's success.Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, suspension return meetings with parents, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.Performs home visits for the purpose of evaluating student's home situation to assess needed support and services to enhance student's social and academic performance.Provides documentation and records to various agencies, stakeholders, and courts (e.g. behavior contracts, truancy records, safety plans, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining communication and compliance with network and various governmental protocols.Provides services for students, families, school community, stakeholders, etc. (e.g. grief therapy, suicide risk assessment/prevention, emotional regulation groups, credit recovery, etc.) for the purpose of supporting development of social, emotional, coping, and academic skills required for success in the academic and home environment and overall well-being of the school community.Reports suspected abuse/neglect to appropriate local and state authorities for the purpose of protecting at-risk students and maintaining legal compliance.Responds to requests for intervention in situations that could negatively impact the student's education plan for the purpose of addressing needs of the student and maximizing the learning environment.Responds to inquiries (e.g. students, parents, staff, community agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information on district and community support services, agencies, and/or educational programs.Other FunctionsPerforms other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effectivefunctioning of the assigned school site.
