We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead our Client Experiences team. You’ll own the technical strategy, people leadership, and execution, scaling them from 0→1 and 1→N. You’ll manage managers and senior ICs, partner with Product, Design, Research and Security, and set a culture of high‑velocity delivery with reliability and safety. Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Client Platform) San Mateo, CA - Hybrid Responsibilities Lead and grow a dedicated client engineering team, ensuring delivery on roadmaps that prioritize user delight, modularity, multi‑platform architecture, and global scalability. Evangelize the multi‑platform strategy across PlayStation by partnering closely with engineering leaders across platforms and client teams to align on integration, adoption, and long‑term technical direction. Build a coherent multi‑surface architecture that balances native excellence with shared code, creating a design system and navigation model that spans phone, tablet, desktop, and web. Build and lead high‑impact teams (hiring, coaching, performance, career paths); manage managers and staff engineers; mentor and coach engineers to grow their careers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, inclusivity, and innovation. Own the Platform: Define the North Star platform architecture, set Performance and Reliability KPIs, and release engineering specifics to ship predictably. Set clear operating rhythms, foster autonomy with accountability, and raise the bar on engineering quality; champion an AI‑first mindset. Collaborate with global teams across San Mateo, Tokyo, London, and more to drive consistent adoption and integration of platform services. Partner with leadership and stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into executable technical roadmaps that advance the PlayStation ecosystem. Drive continuous improvement in developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, service performance, and observability to accelerate the developer experience. Required Qualifications BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience with 10+ years in software engineering. 5+ years leading client/mobile/web teams in engineering leadership roles; 2+ years managing managers and senior/staff ICs. Track record shipping large‑scale native or complex web apps with strict performance, reliability, and privacy requirements, impacting millions of users. Strong technical background building and shipping mobile and desktop applications. Experience with React Native and native mobile technologies iOS/iPadOS; familiarity with desktop architecture on Windows and macOS. Track record recruiting, scaling, and retaining engineering talent in a high‑growth environment; demonstrated success coaching and mentoring engineers. Excellent leadership and communication skills; ability to work effectively across functions. Successfully promoted a culture of belonging and engineering excellence. Desired Qualifications Depth in at least two of Swift/Kotlin, TypeScript/React, and language stacks. Familiarity with iOS/Android or macOS/Windows OS platforms. Knowledge of GraphQL, including schema design and federation. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, service observability (metrics, logging, tracing), and production incident management.
