Tool Room Machinist
Tooling SpecialistCoordinates/Directs Tooling Specialists. Interact with Crew Supervisor, other team leaders, Engineering, and Manufacturing Specialists to assess requirements, develop plans, and provide needed materials and direction for the purpose of assisting tooling specialists to safely operate equipment and meet or exceed the requirements of manufacturing.Reports to Directly to the Tool Room SupervisorResponsibilities:Responsible for placement of tooling orders and related components, securing tooling quotes when necessaryMaintain a monthly physical inventory of tooling, reordering replacement tools as required, to support productionSupports the daily operations of the tool room equipment.Monitor on-going tool quality by maintaining contact with manufacturing (i.e. Crew Supervisors, Manufacturing Team Leaders and Utility Specialist).Maintain Tool Life Tracking SystemProvide support to manufacturing operations by facilitating problem solving and continuous improvementFabricate and repair jigs, fixtures and Marposs verification/end of lot rods to support manufacturing as neededSupport and monitor Tool Receiving and inspection records.Perform inspection of product related tooling as neededSupport training as neededAssure production readiness of Tool and DieSupport daily/monthly operator PMsIn addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for other tasks as assignedSkills Required:Knowledge/Awareness in the following CNC/machining background a plusBlueprint reading a plusDrill PressSawingLay out details for manual machining operationsMachine details to design prints using standard tool room equipmentSkills Preferred:Experience Required Minimum two (2) years' experience in developing powder metal toolingMinimum two- (2) years' experience in tooling development - working with automotive customers preferredA working knowledge of computers/Knowledgeable in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word and/or Excel preferredEducation Required:Competencies HS or GEDISO9001/IATF16949/ISO14001 AwarenessAdvanced knowledge of manual Tool Room EquipmentCNC mill details to finished size after heat treat (face forms)Coaching OthersContinuous ImprovementCustomer Specific RequirementsEthical PracticeGeneral HousekeepingHealth & SafetyIdentify and demonstrate usage of machine safety and personal protective equipmentLock-out/Tag-out ProceduresMaterial handling, hazardous materials handling and storagePrepare details for CNC MachinePreventive Maintenance/Machine ToolsRisk-Based ThinkingUse hand tools on contoured steel from CNC milling operationsWe offer attractive, competitive compensation and benefits including, medical, dental, 401k, short-term disability, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, and more.
