Construction Project Manager (Starlink)As a member of the construction projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the Starlink production facility. This is a hands-on role that is responsible for the planning and execution of new facility construction and renovation projects with emphasis on heavy civil and utility components. You will work with construction project managers, facility engineers, designers, vendors and internal partners/customers to support these goals. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change and own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class manufacturing facility. This position is based in Bastrop, TX (Austin Area).Responsibilities:Oversee and own the full lifecycle of civil, structural, and utility-related projects to achieve on-time and under-budget delivery with customer satisfaction.Provide guidance and input on preliminary scope/customer requests, including rough order of magnitude (ROM) costsGather proposals from architects, engineers, vendors, or contractorsEvaluate competitive bids as appropriateReview proposals for accuracy, identify and track cost-saving suggestions or improvementsRecommend the best path of actionDevelop the final cost and schedule for the projectImplement controls as needed to track and manage cost, schedule, and scopeWrite and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-outFacilitate city, county, building owner, and governmental approvalsResolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-timeTrack and approve invoicing of workManage all aspects of multi-discipline construction projects in the fieldCoordinate with end user and facilities team for building operations and maintenanceManage night shift/early morning contractors as project work requiresTake on new projects ad-hoc as the business needsManage tools, documentation, and folder systems relating to the organization of our construction projectsInteract with contractors, fabricators, and internal customersBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, or an engineering related discipline and 3+ years of professional experience in construction, engineering, or facilities management OR 7+ years of professional experience in construction, engineering, or facilities management in lieu of a degreePreferred Skills and Experience:2+ years of experience in personnel leadership role or project management role for civil, utility, or facility-related construction1+ year of demonstrated hands-on experience in the construction fieldBusiness level written and verbal proficiency in both Spanish and EnglishAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations; ability to mark up and highlight coordination itemsAbility to operate basic earthmoving equipmentBasic proficiency with modern survey equipment such as GPS and Total StationsExperience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor managementAbility to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidanceStrategic facilities planning, technical design, or value engineering experienceProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management software/task tracking softwareProficient knowledge of PDF editor software such as Bluebeam or Adobe AcrobatBasic proficiency with AutoCADKnowledge of processes of jurisdictional permitting and/or environmental agenciesExperience working with vendors of multiple disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveyingAdditional Requirements:Physical ability to perform hands-on work in various environments, including heat, cold, rain, and tight quartersAbility to work onsite at our Bastrop, TX facility (Remote work not considered)Ability to work extended hours and weekends as neededAbility to travel as neededValid driver's licenseAbility to lift up to 25 lbs. unassistedITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
