Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist

We are known for delivering personalized care and creating a welcoming, supportive experience for every patient who walks through our doors.We are seeking a Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist to support the practice’s insurance and billing operations while assisting with patient communication and front office support as needed.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed administrative work, problem-solving, and helping patients navigate the financial side of their care.Position Overview:The Medical Billing & Insurance Specialist is responsible for managing the practice’s core insurance and billing functions, including insurance verification, prior authorizations, claims submission, payment posting, denial follow-up, and patient account support.This role works closely with patients, insurance carriers, and internal team members to help ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and a positive patient experience. While the primary focus of this position is medical billing and insurance coordination, the role also provides occasional front office support, including scheduling assistance, patient check-in/check-out, and phone coverage as needed.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing administrative accuracy with compassionate patient communication.Key Responsibilities:Billing & Insurance CoordinationVerify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirementsSubmit and track insurance claims accurately and efficientlyFollow up on denied or rejected claims and manage appealsPost insurance and patient payments and maintain accurate account recordsCommunicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement issuesAssist patients with billing questions, balances, and payment-related concernsMaintain accurate and HIPAA-compliant billing documentation and workflowsAdministrative & Patient SupportAssist with patient scheduling and appointment coordinationGreet and check in patients as neededProvide phone support and route calls appropriatelySupport day-to-day administrative functions within the officeCollaborate with clinical and administrative staff to help ensure a smooth patient experienceRequirements:2+ years of experience in medical billing, insurance coordination, or revenue cycle supportExperience in a private practice healthcare setting preferred (audiology, ENT, PT/OT, optometry, dental, or similar)Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codingStrong attention to detail and follow-throughComfortable communicating with both insurance representatives and patientsAbility to multitask and adapt within a collaborative small-practice environmentStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsBenefits:Health insurance, fully funded by the employerMatching retirement planPaid time off and holidays
