With support from our staff, Board, and broader Team BGCP community, we strive to make our community a great place for all kids to grow up.Position Overview: The Post-Secondary Success Manager will work in the Future Grads program with post-secondary students to provide the resources, support, tools, and navigational skills they need to successfully complete higher education/post-secondary training. Future Grads starts at the high school level supporting students with post-secondary planning and prep and continues during post-secondary to complete education and training while doing career development. Beginning this summer, the Post-Secondary Success Manager will work with a caseload of rising post secondary students at various higher education institutions and vo-tech programs to help them navigate their education or training, and play a key role to ensure seamless implementation of the postsecondary Future Grads program. This program addresses the need for quality post-secondary advising in a community where few parents have historically attended college and where first-generation students are not receiving the services they need to achieve their postsecondary goals.Role & Responsibilities:Implement Future Grads: Postsecondary Program, including program goals, activities, and events both in-person and virtually as neededAssist in transitioning high school seniors into the postsecondary portion of the Future Grads programMeet 1:1 with a caseload of about ~80 post-secondary students at California Community Colleges, California State Universities, Universities of California, and vo-tech programs to provide advising to assist them in continuing and completing their postsecondary education and career goalsEstablish and hold your students accountable to action plansMaintain organized student records and tracking of program activities, including logging services on Salesforce database accurately and on timeDevelop and cultivate partnerships with colleges and other community partners to support your student caseloadBuild and maintain collaborative relationships with Future Grads & BGCP personnelManage communication with students, families, school staff, volunteer coaches, and other partnersSupport collaborative college success and high school programs & eventsDemonstrate strong leadership qualities including the ability to coordinate, inspire and motivate othersSuccessful implementation of postsecondary program resulting in actively engaged postsecondary students who maintain participation all year by meeting their check-ins and postsecondary workshops & eventsEffectively collaborate with the whole Future Grads & BGCP High School teamsShowcase high level of communication skills, both written and oralPerform additional relevant duties as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 2 years working with high school and/or college aged studentsAbility to navigate different higher education institutions including community colleges, college applications, & financial aid systemsExperience steering students through the financial aid & transfer application processBackground working in an ethnically diverse community and in meeting the needs of the groups representedStrong initiative, self-starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver, ability to work independentlyStrong interpersonal skills and youth development experienceGreat organizational, communication, and collaboration skillsFamiliarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and OutlookFamiliarity with Canva and social media platforms such as LinkedIn and InstagramValid driver's license and driving history that would not disqualify you from insurance on BGCP's vehiclesSpanish language ability strongly desiredPhysical Requirements and Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; and some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling. The role also requires significant fine finger dexterity and near vision acuity. The position may occasionally involve lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Generally, the job requires approximately 20% sitting and 80% walking or standing. The work environment noise level is typically moderate but may occasionally be louder.
