Security SpecialistDuties You will process requests for personnel security investigations, conduct prescreening interviews and fingerprinting, and provide security indoctrination briefings and debriefings as required. You will process Department of Defense building badges and the issuance and accountability of courier cards and Common Access Cards (CAC) for contractor personnel. You will endorse and process requests for classified account creation (SIPR). You will receipt for and mail classified materials. You will process requests for swipe and PIN access to controlled and restricted areas. You will maintain classified inventories and conduct personnel check-ins and check-outs. You will perform administrative and technical support duties within the Information and Personnel Security office, applying practical knowledge of Department of the Navy clearance and access processes. You will serve as a subject matter expert and principal advisor to the Security Manager and Assistant Security Manager on personnel and information security matters. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position is part of the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) certification program. The selectee is required to obtain Security Fundamentals Professional certification within two years of placement in the position and maintain the certification as long as they remain in the position.
