Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of interventional radiology. Assists with diagnostic angiography, neuro- interventional, and other invasive procedures.Distinguishing Characteristics: This is a stand-alone classification. The incumbent in this class is on-call based on the 24-hour hospital's business needs.Job Requirement Education/Experience: Graduate from an accredited radiology technology program or registered cardiovascular invasive specialist program and two (2) years experience in a cardiac Cath labfor RCIS-certified individuals or two (2) years of experience in Cath lab or interventional radiology units for ARRT. Licensing/Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA). For those assigned in Special Procedure/Interventional Radiology Lab - State of Nevada License in Radiology and valid American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography. For those assigned in Cardiac Cath Lab - State of Nevada License in Radiology and Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International or ARRT.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements Knowledge of: Procedures and protocols associated with radiation; specialized equipment used in interventional cases; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; quality assurance and quality control measures; neuro-body disease; aseptic techniques and sterile field setup; vascular anatomy, pressures; catheter curves; rated burst pressures and compliance; personal computers; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.Skill in: Utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation; utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation; applying aseptic techniques; positioning patients properly to maximize results; instructing patients about procedures and post-procedure rules and guidelines; performing interventional procedures; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and computer screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone.
