Data Analyst
Position Summary
The Data Analyst collaborates with business users to create report specifications and develop, test, and deploy reports and dashboards that can be used to make sound business decisions. This position establishes and enforces data visualization, data discovery, and data quality best practices across the organization
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Converts ideas and business needs into meaningful report/dashboard designs and data requirements
Provides requirements to the Information Technology Team for source data additions or enhancements
Assists in training end users and maintaining a knowledge base to help promote best practices on how to use data visualization tools
Supports the development of a standard process for defining data requirements, managing governance, creating BI reports/dashboards
Establishes a relationship with end-users to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs
Participates in and drives execution of projects, as appropriate
Undertakes any other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science, or in a science technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline preferred but not required
1-2 years of experience working with SQL database development, SQL queries, data structures, stored procedures, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), extract transform load (ETL), application programming interface (API) architecture, relational data models is preferred
Experience as a data analyst or similar position is preferred
Experience in gathering business requirements and translating them into data or reports
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
Curiosity to learn and explore new technologies or programming languages to enhance skills and improve work efficiency
Ability to translate complex technical designs and terminologies into simplified business language
Strong communication and persuasion skills. Ability to create messaging materials that meet stakeholder preferences, including the ability to present concepts verbally
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Works in a temperature-controlled environment, with low noise levels
Prolonged periods of sitting required
Rarely required to walk, stand, lift, pull, or push objects weighing up to 10 pounds
