Supervisor, Outbound Shipping (7947)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Outbound Shipping Supervisor to oversee the shipping operations within our distribution center. The Outbound Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of shipping personnel, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all outgoing shipments, and coordinating logistics to meet customer demands. This position plays a key role in optimizing efficiency, maintaining safety standards, and improving overall distribution performance.

Shipping Operations Management
Overseeing daily shipping activities, ensuring orders are processed and shipped on time
Coordinating the movement of goods and ensuring accurate picking, packing, and dispatching of products
Managing the scheduling of shipments and delivery routes to meet customer deadlines and optimizing transportation costs
Ensuring proper documentation, including packing slips, shipping labels, and customs paperwork, is prepared and accurate
Team Leadership
Leading, training, and supervising a team of shipping associates, forklift operators, and other shipping staff
Monitoring team performance and providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities
Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards
Fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
Inventory and Order Management
Collaborating with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure stock levels are accurate and align with shipping requirements
Managing order prioritization, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner
Tracking shipping discrepancies, damages, or returns, and working with the appropriate teams to resolve issues
Logistics and Carrier Coordination
Coordinating with third-party logistics providers and carriers to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries
Evaluating and negotiating shipping rates and contracts with carriers to ensure competitive pricing and service
Resolving shipping delays or issues with carriers, ensuring minimal disruption to customer orders
Process Improvement and Reporting
Identifying areas for improvement in shipping processes and implementing strategies to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service
Maintaining accurate shipping records and generating reports on shipping metrics (e.g., on-time deliveries, shipment accuracy, etc.)
Collaborating with management to analyze shipping data and implementing corrective actions as needed
Compliance and Safety
Ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations in the shipping area, minimizing accidents and injuries
Complying with all applicable shipping regulations, including international shipping, hazardous material handling, and customs documentation
Assisting with other responsibilities based on business needs
About You
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus
At least 3-5 years of experience in a shipping or logistics management role, preferably in a distribution center or warehouse environment
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Proficiency with shipping software and warehouse management systems (WMS)
Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Solid understanding of shipping and logistics processes, including international shipping and customs procedures
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
Comfortable working in a warehouse environment, including exposure to varying temperatures
