Ship Channel EDI 4210 Malone Drive Pasadena, TX 77507, USATotal Safety is looking for a Fire Technician II to join their safety conscious team. The Fire Technician II provides service inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair for fire equipment including, but not limited to, portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, fire and gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, gaseous suppression systems, and sprinkler systems.ResponsibilitiesPerform shop service and/or field inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment, including portable and fixed fire extinguisher systems, lifesaving and navigation aid equipment, fixed breathing air systems, fire detection and alarm system components, fixed gas detection system components, foam, dry chemical, gaseous fire suppression systems and water-based fire protection equipment.Complete all documentation associated with inspection and repair in a timely and accurate manner; obtain customer signature for proper invoicing and documentation.Conduct detailed visual inspections and system functional tests of various systems and equipment, report deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions to the customer.Conduct pre-job, job-update, and post-job completion briefs.Assist others in the facility by stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready-to-use equipment, pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto delivery trucks.Maintain work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.Operate electronic safety and communications systems, including portable gas monitors, hand-held radios, and related equipment.Rig up and use a wide range of safety equipment, including retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards.Be trained, authorized, and certified to work both onshore and offshore exploration and production environments.QualificationsKnowledge of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities, including State, OSHA, NFPA regulations, and applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Coast Guard, and ABS regulations if offshore.Experience installing plant-wide evacuation systems, gas detection systems, conduit (both rigid and EMT), and wire pulling.Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility and customer-required personal protective equipment (PPE); trained in respiratory protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (fit-tested).Forklift experience is a plus; must pass internal forklift certification as required.Ability to obtain a TWIC card and pass required safety tests, including Basic Plus, OSHA 10-hour, etc.May be required to obtain a driver's license with a DOT hazardous endorsement if required by facility.Must hold State Fire Licenses (if required) or pass NICET Level II testing in two disciplines of fire protection, or hold NICET Level III in one discipline for appropriate areas of service prior to performing work within those areas.Work environments include shop, indoor and outdoor industrial settings; exposure to cold, hot, wet, humid conditions, vibration, high pressure, chemicals, traffic, and moderate noise levels.Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED and at least two (2) years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery, or related industry.
