As an organization we are committed to optimizing our skilled resources, emphasizing professional development, and encouraging knowledge sharing across the company.Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Construction, the Operations Manager oversees operational activities in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, including hiring project staff, managing training and development and performance management programs for project staff, lead, motivate and engage project staff to ensure timely and efficient completion of the construction projects. The Operations Manager is ultimately responsible for introducing best practices and improving operational processes and related programs.ResponsibilitiesDevelopment and approval of project execution plans for a variety of heavy civil projectDevelopment and approval of project budgets, forecasting and associated cost reportsDevelopment and negotiation of contracts with project clients, vendors and subcontractorsDevelopment, approval and monitoring of project schedulesManagement and completion of claims and any associated legal proceedings with respect to contracts disputesOverall management of staff and resource planning related to project execution.Formulate and implement operational strategyCoordinate with other departments to effectively implement strategyEnsure all operations are carried efficiently, timely and within budgetAnalyze and improve operational systems and processes Improve and implement various operations related programs, including training and development, performance management Manage day to day operational activitiesDevelop and deliver operational recruitment strategyConducting interviews with prospective candidates for the operational positions Ensure legal compliance of operational processes and programs Lead, support, and mentor project staff Work closely with management team Participate in management meetings to contribute to strategic planning and provide strategic solutions to operational issuesQualifications RequiredEducation and ExperienceDiploma in Civil Engineering, Operations or Project Management or relevant area / combination with experience10+ years of progressive experience in managementCertification as a PMI, PE, PMP will be advantageousExperience in schedule planning, budgeting, company operationsIn-depth knowledge of the scope of projects within the industryKnowledge of financial and business management Strong experience in the Mid-Atlantic Core Competencies RequiredTeamworkExceptional communication skills both written and oralAccountabilityJob Specific CompetenciesOutstanding organizational and time management skillsSuperior leadership skills Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to juggle and prioritize diverse requestsAdaptability to changing working conditionsComputer SkillsProven experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)AssetsKnowledge of French (speaking and writing)Work ConditionsUp to 50 hours a week based on project requirementsClear driving record / own vehicle Frequent travel to various construction sites across the District of Columbia, Maryland, VirginiaCRIMINAL RECORD CHECKAll offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal record check.
