If you are a Mortgage Loan Originator, considre this outstanding opportunity! The CU Select Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) is responsible for helping partner credit union members purchase homes and save money by refinancing existing mortgages through expert guidance and five-star partner/member service. Contacts member applicants within the prescribed SLA to provide assistance in the selection of the proper first mortgage product. Takes the borrower’s application, assists in the gathering of documentation and communicates regularly with applicant and partner credit union concerning loan status. Reviews loan conditions with borrowers and partner credit unions and coordinates timely return delivery. (35%) Builds and maintains partner focused referral relationships with assigned partner credit unions. Provides expert guidance to partners on available products and information needed to take quality applications. (25%) Manages personal loan pipeline and communicates loan status to borrowers, partner credit unions, and related parties, such as real estate agents, title agencies, etc., and follows up appropriately. Learns and uses various in-house technical systems and programs to streamline the loan process and reporting requirements. Documents all efforts by Partner Credit Unions toward their members’ loan closings. (20%) Maintains an active knowledge base of all loan products and an understanding of the qualifications required for each applicant. Maintains knowledge of and adherence to loan level compliance and regulatory requirements. (10%) Maintains individual mortgage licensing and continuing education requirements in assigned states and complies with federal and state guidelines relative to the position. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated. (10%)Required Skills Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills: The CU Select Mortgage Loan Originator possesses the following knowledge and skills: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Demonstrated ability to learn and use the necessary software to complete job functions, especially mortgage loan origination and processing systems, along with third party web sites. Demonstrated ability to analyze credit reports, automated underwriting decisions, title commitments, purchase agreements and other mortgage-related documents and properly prepare mortgage disclosure packages. Knowledge of FNMA, FHA, VA and USDA loan programs and lending requirements. Excellent telephone manners and techniques. Demonstrated ability to learn and adhere to federal and state regulations/laws as they pertain to mortgage lending. Minimum of two years’ previous experience originating/processing first mortgage or equity loans is required. Preference is for origination of first mortgages. Maintain all required NMLS, state and Safe Act licensing requirements. The requirements include: 20 hours of Safe Act pre-license education. 8 hours per year of continuing education. Studying, pre-testing and completion of individual state licensing for the Q1 states. A total of 55-60 hours of education and testing hours per year. Applicant must be in good standing with all state and federal licensing authorities. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products.
