Python Rating Engine Developer (Insurance Pricing & Underwriting)We are seeking a Python Rating Engine Developer with strong experience in insurance pricing, underwriting, actuarial modeling, and predictive analytics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Python, SQL, machine learning, and insurance rating methodologies, with hands-on experience developing rating engines, pricing models, and actuarial data pipelines. Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter or similar insurance platforms is highly preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain insurance rating engine applications using Python.Build backend services that calculate policy premiums, discounts, surcharges, and underwriting decisions.Collaborate with actuaries to convert rating manuals, actuarial models, and SERFF filings into production-ready code.Develop ETL pipelines to process policy, claims, underwriting, and historical insurance datasets.Build predictive pricing and risk assessment models using machine learning techniques.Apply statistical modeling techniques, including Generalized Linear Models (GLMs), for insurance ratemaking.Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, reporting, and analytics.Ensure compliance with insurance regulations by implementing logging, auditing, and validation mechanisms.Work with underwriting teams to implement business rules for risk assessment and premium calculation.Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards for pricing and underwriting insights.Deploy applications on AWS or Azure cloud platforms and support CI/CD automation.Participate in code reviews, testing, and Agile software development practices.Required Skills6–8 years of experience in Python development.Strong expertise in Python and SQL.Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Statsmodels.Strong understanding of insurance rating engines, premium calculation, underwriting, actuarial modeling, risk assessment, predictive pricing, Generalized Linear Models (GLMs).Experience developing ETL pipelines for large datasets.Knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification and regression.Experience with Git/GitHub version control.Strong data visualization skills using Matplotlib or Seaborn.Experience working with AWS or Azure cloud services.Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, hx Renew (hyperexponential), or Openkoda.Knowledge of insurance regulatory compliance and SERFF filings.Experience with telematics and usage-based insurance (UBI) data.Understanding of Motor Vehicle Records (MVR), loss cost modeling, frequency vs. severity analysis, and base rate calculations.Experience working in Property & Casualty (P&C), Auto, or Commercial Insurance domains.Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and enterprise software development best practices.Company Benefits & CultureCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageOpportunities for professional growth and developmentSupportive and inclusive work environment
