Position: Utilities Engineer - Project EngineerDuration: 12+ months / plus extensions and plus full benefitsLocation: Waukegan, IL 60087Pay Rate $60.00 - $80.00 per hour + full benefits immediatelyI am looking for a hands-on Project Engineer - Utilities Engineer in Waukegan, IL — to work as a Project Engineer.In this role you will be walking and noticing systems across multiple buildings, identifying issues and scoping solutions, leading installs, retrofits and commissioning, work with HVAC - steam, chilled water, AHUs and more.You will own the Utilities and HVAC infrastructure within the building site. You will be able to own real projects and see the impact onsite.Sterling offers full benefits, (ESOP, PTO, 401K match, healthcare and more)If you enjoy being in the field and solving real engineering problems, let's talk.QUALIFICATIONSDemonstrated hands-on project experience with:Building utilities (steam, chilled water, hot water, glycol)HVAC systems, particularly AHUs and related componentsUtility/HVAC distribution systems within buildingsStrong ability to:Walk the site and identify what needs replacementSelect appropriate vendors and equipmentManage multiple projects in parallelExperience in project engineering or hands-on project managementAbility to read and work with schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical/electrical drawings.Solid communication skills for working with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE)Experience with controls / controls engineering (e.g., understanding of HVAC / control schematics, sequence of operations).Background in facilities, utilities, or pharmaceutical/industrial environments.Prior experience upgrading aging infrastructure across multiple buildings or sites.About us...Sterling Engineering, in business for 57 years ...we offer FULL BENEFITS!
