EMC Test Engineer
Position: EMC Test EngineerLocation: San Jose, CAContract Role & ResponsibilitiesPerform testing, simulation, and validation of EMC performance for various hardware products.Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to bring up, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software.Work closely with EMC lab leads, project teams, and EMC design teams to plan prototype allocations, EMC test cases, and testing schedules.Configure hardware and software to exercise Equipment Under Test (EUT) for EMC compliance testing.Independently or collaboratively perform EMC compliance testing on a variety of networking and electronic equipment, including switches, routers, servers, access points, video equipment, IP telephones, and security devices.Prepare Test Assessment Plans (TAP), define EMC test cases, and generate EMC test reports using in-house reporting tools.Execute EMC testing in accordance with worldwide regulatory standards, including but not limited to:EN/IEC 61000-4-x series47 CFR Part 15ICESCISPR 22, CISPR 24, CISPR 32, CISPR 35VCCICNS 13438KN 32, KN 35EN 300 386EN 55022, EN 55024, EN 55032, EN 55035Develop and maintain knowledge of additional EMC standards, including CISPR 32, CISPR 35, railway standards EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, EN 50121-4, and NEBS GR-1089.Identify EMC issues, document test results, and collaborate with engineering teams to support root-cause analysis and resolution.Minimum QualificationsBSEE with relevant EMC/testing experience, orASEE with multiple years of EMC test experience, orSignificant hands-on EMC testing experience.Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment, including:EMI receiversSpectrum analyzersOscilloscopesSignal generatorsPower amplifiersPower metersExperience working with networking or electronic hardware and software configurations.Strong understanding of EMC testing methodologies and compliance requirements.Ability to work independently as well as effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience with IXIA traffic generators and wideband communication testers.Experience testing networking equipment such as switches, routers, servers, access points, and communication devices.Knowledge of EMC standards and regulatory compliance requirements.Experience with CISPR 32, CISPR 35, EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, EN 50121-4, and NEBS GR-1089.Familiarity with EMC laboratory environments, test automation, and reporting tools.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
