Your work will directly enable Viasat’s ability to connect users and platforms across air, land, and sea, ensuring reliable communications in highly contested and operationally demanding environments.You will be responsible for driving projects that span software-defined networking, satellite communications (SATCOM), terminals, antennas, network infrastructure, and managed connectivity services, aligning technical execution with mission and customer requirements.Success in this role requires the ability to influence diverse technical teams, align stakeholders around shared objectives, and maintain disciplined execution to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements while managing risks.The day-to-dayBe accountable for end‑to‑end program execution, managing cost, schedule, technical performance, and risk across multiple internal development effortsLead and coordinate cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Cyber & Information Security, and Finance.Influence teams and stakeholders who do not directly report to you, driving alignment and accountability in a matrixed environmentPlan, track, and report program performance using metrics, milestone tracking, and executive‑level status reportingManage program risks and opportunities, proactively identifying issues and driving resolution to meet program commitmentsEnsure programs meet internal development objectives while supporting required certifications, security requirements, and compliance obligationsAdhere to Viasat’s project development process (VGate)What You'll NeedBachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent relevant experience10+ years of multifaceted Program or Project Management experience, including responsibility for cost, schedule, technical performance, and risk managementStrong experience leading large internal development programs, particularly software‑centric or systems‑of‑systems effortsDemonstrated working knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and reportingProven ability to lead and collaborate within a highly matrixed organizationStrong leadership presence with the ability to influence, negotiate, and drive outcomes without direct authorityAbility to present technical and programmatic information at an abstracted level to senior leadershipFamiliarity with hybrid Agile / traditional program execution modelsOutstanding verbal and written communication skillsU.S. Government position requiring U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearanceWhat Will Help You On The JobExperience supporting satellite communications, networking, terminals, or complex integrated systemsBackground working in government, defense, or other regulated environmentsExperience supporting certifications, cybersecurity, and compliance requirementsActive DoD Clearance Salary range$141,500.00 - $224,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $176,000.00- $264,000.00/ annuallyAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
