Senior Property Accountant

Senior Property Accountant, under the direction of the Accounting Manager, works collaboratively to manage financial aspects of KETTLER Management apartment communities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-service focused individual. He/she will be responsible for day to day accounting operations of several residential apartment and retail/commercial communities which will include the preparation of the financial statements and other owner and investor requests. The Senior Property Accountant will also assist in the preparation and analysis of the operating budgets and other special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager. The successful candidate will reside in the Virginia, D.C., Maryland region. We are looking forward to speaking with individuals with Residential Real Estate Accounting and Yardi experience.ResponsibilitiesOperating revenue and expense variance analysisReconciliation of balance sheet and general ledger accounts to supporting reportsPrepare Monthly bank reconciliationsResponsible for monthly payments for debt service, owner distribution calculations, etc. Responsible for real estate tax and insurance payments, to avoid late payments and penaltiesResponsible for personal property tax filings and business licenses.Post monthly accruals and work with Regional and Property managers for accuracyPrepare replacement reserve filingsMaintain and update schedules for EquityFacilitate with annual budget process by preparing supporting schedules and working with the site teamAssist site team with budget re-forecast and cash re-forecastsAnswer audit questions and assist with preparing supporting schedulesTimely resolution of problems and issuesOngoing communication with regional operational and site managers and third party ownership as neededProcess improvement identificationOther tasks as assignedQualificationsBA or BS Degree in Accounting/Finance is requiredMinimum of 7 years experience is requiredKnowledge of GAAP is requiredProficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, sumifts, etc.)Great communication skills (both verbal and written)Strong ability to work under pressure independently or in team environmentAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience with Yardi is preferredDemonstrates ability and interest to develop strong analytical skillsAbout KETTLERIntentional, thoughtful, and boutique designed; are the words used to describe KETTLER’s strategy for real estate development since its inception in 1977.
