Job Summary: Diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and adjusts key systems and components of trucks and related equipment.Mid-level position - Generally has more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A level two technician has moderate knowledge of the field's standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level two technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting; often a team member on a large project.Essential Functions:Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and MissionTroubleshoots and diagnoses moderately complex engine malfunctions and failures with direction and minimum supervisionPerforms thorough engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimum supervisionDisassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGsProvides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testingUses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming enginesCompletes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returnsInterprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletinsOperates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificatesAdheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulationsMaintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working orderCommunicates job progress to supervisor and customer as neededWorks overtime as required by workload and customers' needsProjects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearanceActs as a mentor and coach to lower level TechniciansCompletes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety trainingConsistently maintains an average rework of less than 1%Ensures a positive average variance consistentlyWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standardsRequires regular and punctual employee attendancePerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to meet all requirements as outlined in Leveling Description Guide to include; Basic Requirements, Electrical System, Engine Systems, AC/Heat System, Fuel System, Compressed Air Systems, Cooling System, Rear Differential, Intake/Exhaust Systems, Drive Train Components, Clutches, Tier IV Engine Emission Systems and TransmissionsAbility to meet all technical and performance requirements for a level one technicianSolid knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceSound knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic toolingOperation and control skills of vehicle fleetProblem-solving and troubleshooting skillsVerbal communication skillsExceptional skills in customer serviceExcellent time management and organizational skillsAbility to follow logical troubleshooting proceduresAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to operate a conventional forkliftAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead craneAbility to operate a vehicle on public roadsAbility to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objectsAbility to read, write, and understand informationAbility to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesAbility to complete HOLT's VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools (Learn)Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program requiredAt least two years of experience required, three or more preferredCDL - Class A or B preferredASE - Medium/Heavy Truck Certification four or more preferredAC Certification RequiredBrake System Certification RequiredHas met HDSI requirements for Service Tech 1;
