Manufacturing Engineer

The OpportunityWe’re supporting a global industrial manufacturing organisation in the search for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their machining and operations team in Columbia, KY.This position will act as a key link between Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Design Engineering, driving process improvements and supporting manufacturing efficiency across a high-mix machining environment.The role offers the opportunity to work on equipment upgrades, fixture design, Lean Manufacturing initiatives, and process optimisation projects that directly impact operational performance.The RoleManufacturing EngineeringDevelop manufacturing methods and process sequences for machined parts and assembliesCreate and optimise machining and assembly processesDesign fixtures for CNC and manual machining operationsDevelop Standard Work documentation and SOPsSupport CNC programming and tooling strategiesUpdate MRP systems with routing and manufacturing dataContinuous ImprovementLead setup reduction and Kaizen initiativesImprove process repeatability and manufacturing consistencySupport workflow, plant layout, and equipment optimisationIdentify opportunities to reduce costs and improve throughputCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and VendorsSupport manufacturability reviews and production planningAssist with equipment sourcing and implementation projectsRequirementsEssentialStrong understanding of manufacturing engineering principlesExperience with machining processes and fixturingAbility to interpret technical drawings and GD&TContinuous improvement / Lean Manufacturing experienceStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsPreferredBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing TechnologyCNC programming exposureExperience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environmentsExperience creating Standard Work documentationWhat You’ll Be Working OnProcess optimisation and manufacturing efficiency projectsFixture and tooling designWorkflow and layout improvementsLean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiativesTransitioning production onto newer manufacturing equipment
