Technician / Technologist Location: Augusta, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,407 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 6/1/2026 About the Position Job Title: Endoscopy Technician Profession: GI Tech Specialty: Surgical Techs Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 and 10 hours Experience: No endoscopy experience required License: High School Diploma or GED Certifications: - BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - SGNA-GTS - SGNA GI Tech Specialist or SGNA-GTS-P - SGNA GI Tech Specialist - Provisional within 90 Days of hire Must-Have: - Ability to read, write, and speak the English language - Strong customer service and interpersonal skills - Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care - Competency in all aspects of GI procedures, patient positioning, and exposure factors - Ability to delegate to other team members as required - Ability to multi-task and function in stressful and emergent situations - Strong detail orientation - Proficiency in all general GI procedures Description: The Endoscopy Technician I has either no experience in endoscopy or is a novice in the endoscopy setting. The technician assists the nurses and physicians in providing care for the endoscopy patient. They must complete competencies for all basic GI procedures and scope reprocessing. The technician also supports the area with duties that include preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment. They are responsible for gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant. The job also includes the transportation of patients and equipment, stocking and maintaining supplies, and care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories. They contribute to the daily functions of the unit with a strong sense of infection control in the GI setting. The technician demonstrates proficiency in all general endoscope procedures, equipment, and supplies, including cleaning endoscopes and accessories. They fulfill all essential functions of the GI Lab Technician and function in all areas of the endoscopy lab. The technician prepares for scheduled, emergent, urgent, and add-on endoscopic procedures by ensuring necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are ready and set up for use. They have the skill to expedite and organize the preparation for unexpected events, giving direction and support to less experienced team members. They function independently within their scope and anticipate the needs of the physician and RN during procedures. They also must be proficient in operating all equipment in GI and provide technical assistance during procedures by troubleshooting equipment as needed. The technician is required to take emergency call after normal operating hours and weekends rotation as needed. They demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of infection control principles and standards. They take a proactive role in quality improvement monitoring and improvement plans. The technician demonstrates effective and professional communication skills and works collaboratively with team members. They assist with planning daily assignments and distribution of work to promote department efficiency. The technician assists in the trial and evaluation of new equipment and supplies. They function in a manner aligned with quality care, patient satisfaction, professional standards, law, cost containment, efficiency, safety, and quality. They maintain confidentiality and support evidence-based practice and ethical accountability. The technician maintains current BLS certification and successfully completes on-the-job training with documentation of orientation and all competencies met. Other duties may be assigned as required.
