School Secretary

Thesepositions must also be knowledgeable of all school policies, procedures and systems, produce and maintain the necessary reports,and organize/maintain the necessary files and documents needed.Qualifications:All paraprofessionals are required to meet the "Highly Qualified" standard. To do so, they must satisfy one of the following qualifications:• An Associate's Degree from an accredited institution;• Possess 60 credit hours from an accredited U.S. college or university; or• Achieve the necessary scores on a state-approved assessment, such as the WIN, WorkKeys or Parapro Test. From the homepage, go to the Jobs section and choose Classified Positions.Other Qualifications:• Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred• Minimum of two (2) years prior bookkeeping experience required• Prior clerical experience required• Strong communication skills required• Ability to type at least 50 words per minute• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment• Intermediate knowledge of computer systems/programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, databases, etc.) required; experience with INFOR/Lawson, SmartFind, Kronos, and PowerSchool preferred.Responsibilities:• Perform routine clerical duties including but not limited to answering phones, copying, filing, faxing, typing, and communicating with parents and students• Serve as secretary and/or bookkeeper to the Principal and school• Perform a variety of bookkeeping duties including, but not limited to, preparing reports and requisitions, completing required forms, maintaining financial records, maintaining bank reconciliations, receipting all monies received, preparing and making bank deposits, maintaining school accounts, and adhering to proper check writing procedures as applicable to student activity funds and district funds• Order supplies and equipment for the school• Maintain automated time and attendance records as assigned• Maintain appropriate inter and outer office correspondence for the principals and staff as assigned• Perform Human Resources tasks, including, but not limited to, actions in the online application system, the substitute management system, leave requests, and completing applicable HR forms• Maintain current systems knowledge by attending regular trainings as offered/required• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor• Specific duties of the individual position will be further discussed in the interviewOther information:Reports To:This position reports to the Principal of the assigned school.Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy.Terms of Employment:These positions are paid on the Support/Non-Exempt Salary Schedule on Grade G. Secretary/Bookkeeper positions work 12 months (245 days) per year.
