This role requires hands-on supervision, cross-trade coordination, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of mechanical construction experience, including work with liquid cooling systems, and excels at team leadership, technical problem-solving, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.   Job RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical construction or supervision in industrial projects, with at least 3 years of experience working with liquid cooling systems in data centers or similar high-tech facilities.Journeyman or Master Mechanical License, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or equivalent.OSHA 30 certification required: First Aid/CPR certification a plus.Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.In-depth knowledge of liquid cooling technologies, heat transfer principles, and data center infrastructure.Familiarity with testing tools (e.g., pressure gauges, flow meters, thermal imaging equipment).Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.Other important requirements:  Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.Must be comfortable working a rotational schedule, which includes day and night shifts as well as weekend work, based on project needs.Employees working night shifts will receive a 15% premium added to their hourly rate only for hours worked during night shifts.Job ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and supervise a team of mechanical technicians, fitters, and subcontractors working on liquid cooling systems (e.g., direct-to-chip cooling, rear-door heat exchangers), piping, pumps, valves, and HVAC systems.Monitor performance and ensure workforce compliance with project goals and safety standards.Oversee the installation of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.Coordinate with other trades (electrical, plumbing, structural) to ensure seamless integration of liquid cooling systems.Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and QA/QC teams to resolve technical issues and maintain project milestones.Ensure all mechanical installations meet data center standards, industry codes, and client requirements.Verify material and equipment compliance with approved submittals.Support QA/QC inspections and address non-conformance issues promptly.Supervise pressure testing, flushing, and balancing of liquid cooling loops to ensure leak-free operation and optimal performance.Oversee functional and performance testing of cooling systems to meet thermal and flow rate specifications.Assist commissioning teams in validating system performance under operational conditions.Enforce OSHA regulations, site-specific safety protocols, and industry best practices.Conduct regular safety audits and ensure team compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.Investigate and report incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Monitor work schedules to meet project deadlines, coordinating with the project management team.Track progress and update project management on mechanical system status.Manage material and equipment inventories to prevent delays.Provide technical guidance on liquid cooling system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Address field challenges, such as design conflicts or equipment malfunctions, with practical solutions.Stay updated on advancements in liquid cooling technology and data center mechanical systems.Job BenefitsAt IREN, we offer a comprehensive, market-competitive total rewards package designed to support employees’ well-being, career advancement, and financial wealth.
