FP&A Analyst Job Description
Job Overview
The FP&A Analyst will be responsible for financial planning, budget management, financial analysis, and forecasting, providing decision support to management through in-depth data analysis. This position requires proficiency in data analysis tools such as Power Query and Power BI, with the ability to extract key insights from complex financial data to support business growth and profitability enhancement.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial planning processes, conduct variance analysis, and provide improvement recommendations
Budget Management: Coordinate departmental budget preparation, monitor budget execution, identify budget deviations, and propose solutions
Financial Modeling: Build and maintain financial models to support strategic planning, new business evaluation, and investment decisions
Management Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, providing key financial indicator analysis and business insights
Data Processing & Visualization: Process complex financial data using Power Query and create intuitive data visualization dashboards through Power BI
Cost and Pricing maintenance: Sets, maintains, and adjusts all costing and custom pricing of products in the inventory management system(s)
Accounting monthly closing reconciliation and reviews: Contributes to month-end processing to ensure a timely closing within corporate deadlines. Prepares and posts journal entries into the general ledger. Reconciles and analyzes balance sheet accounts monthly with follow-up on all outstanding issues and make recommendations on resolution of outstanding amounts or issues. Performs month end close responsibilities including journal entries, account reconciliations, roll forwards and other analysis.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred
2-4 years of relevant work experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in multinational corporations or large enterprises
Professional qualification preferred (CPA, ACCA, CMA, etc.)
Technical Skills
Power Query: Proficient in data extraction, transformation, and loading processes
Power BI: Ability to create complex data models and interactive dashboards
Excel: Advanced functions, pivot tables, and macro applications
Financial Modeling: Ability to build complex financial models and scenario analysis
Data Analysis: Extract key business insights from complex data
Report Writing: Transform complex financial information into clear and concise reports
Personal Qualities & Abilities
Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to process complex financial data and provide valuable insights
Strong communication and presentation skills, able to clearly convey complex financial information to non-financial management
Strong organizational and time management skills, able to complete multiple tasks on time under pressure
High sense of responsibility and accuracy, with strict requirements for data quality
Good team spirit, able to effectively collaborate with different departments
Self-motivated, proactive, with continuous learning and adaptability to change
