The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor (WS-8801-11) to join the team at the 12th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio - Randolph AFB, Texas! In this position, you would exercise technical and administrative supervisor over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work on the T38 training sortie aircraft generation efforts. QUALIFICATIONS US Citizenship is required. The position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. This is a key position designed to meet wartime mission requirements. The employee must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance. May be required to work other than normal duty hours, rotating shifts, uncommon tours of duty, emergency call back, weekends, holidays, overtime, etc. Must acquire and maintain Red X inspection certification. May be required to participate in contingency situations real world or exercise, as directed. Requires color vision for runway operations (red, green, and white) and incumbent must pass flightline vehicle operations test. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Incorporates concept/philosophy of balancing manpower, parts and equipment availability against established maintenance standards to ensure the maximum number of aircraft are available at all times to meet the flying schedule. Guides and motivates employees to streamline processes and design/create repairs for all assigned aircraft. Coordinates with aircraft engineers to determine the best solution to repair aircraft discrepancies. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans. Advises employees in advance of performance expectations and explains new work techniques as required. Performs "Red X" inspection certification duties. Monitors In-Progress-Inspections (IPI) as required for safe task completion and safety of flight determination. Creates an atmosphere of partnership with customers properly reflecting Maintenance Directorate policies and procedures. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIITES Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised to balance manpower, parts, and equipment resources utilizing established maintenance standards to ensure high sortie availability to meet the flying schedule. Knowledge of aircraft parts, components and subsystems, welding, corrosion and corrosion prevention, related non-destructive issues and systems, tool utilization and maintenance, equipment programs, and material accounting/procurement. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data, instructions, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and technical orders related to T-38 aircraft maintenance and repair is highly desirable. Ability to identify trends, evaluate causes, and establish and implement corrective procedures for CAMS and documentation errors. Ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a diversified subordinate work force.
