Divisional/Plant Controller

We are looking for an experienced Divisional/Plant Controller to lead accounting operations and strengthen financial oversight for a growing avionics-focused manufacturing business in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for a finance leader who can balance strategic insight with hands-on execution while building disciplined reporting processes and dependable internal controls. The role will partner across the organization to improve close activities, manage financial risk, and support accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:• Direct the month-end close cycle and ensure financial results are prepared accurately, completely, and in alignment with corporate accounting standards and U.S. GAAP.• Improve closing and reporting workflows to increase efficiency, reduce delays, and consistently meet established deadlines.• Review balance sheet exposures, including inventory-related risk, and collaborate with operational teams to strengthen oversight and corrective action.• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, operating procedures, and internal controls that support a compliant and well-documented control environment.• Coordinate external audit support and oversee tax-related compliance activities to ensure timely and accurate completion.• Gather and submit required financial information for corporate reporting needs, including support for external disclosure requirements.• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including employees and AP/AR support resources, while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.• Enhance accounts receivable and accounts payable processes through automation, standardization, and effective use of internal or outsourced resources.• Contribute to special projects such as financial integrations, system implementation efforts, and other business initiatives as assigned.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement relationships.• 5-10 years of experience in a controller or finance leadership position with increasing responsibility.• Background in manufacturing, including experience with cost accounting and financial reporting in a production environment.• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor accounting teams across a matrixed organization.• Hands-on, solution-focused approach with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.• Experience managing month-end close processes, internal controls, and compliance-driven accounting operations.• Preferred experience in a public company setting, including exposure to consolidations and intercompany accounting.• Preferred familiarity with ERP environments and participation in financial integration or system implementation projects.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
