With more than 25,000 students in grades K-12, New York Edge bridges the opportunity gap faced by students in underinvested communities by strengthening academic performance, health and wellness, self-confidence, and leadership skills for success in life.What is a Sports Specialist:The Sports Specialist for the summer after-school program will design and lead engaging physical activities that promote teamwork, fitness, and skill development. They will create a fun and inclusive environment where students of all abilities can participate and build confidence through sports. Additionally, they will ensure safety, provide coaching, and foster a positive learning experience for all participants.What will you do:Build strong relationships with and among studentsTeach or co-lead daily activitiesEstablish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to studentsParticipate in ongoing professional development activitiesPrepare materials for daily activitiesAdapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interestsSupport the coordination of program eventsInput data and prepare reportsAdminister pre and post-assessments and evaluations for student activitiesOther duties may be assigned.REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalentMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be knowledgeable and skilled in Sports and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth.College credits and/or degrees are highly preferredExperience working with children strongly preferredSchedule:Part-Time Seasonal (July 1st – August 14th)Weekly Scheduled Hours from 15-29 hrs weekly.
