Insight Global is seeking for a hands-on fabrication and model shop position supporting engineering and product development within a large HVAC manufacturing environment. The Engineering Model Maker will build and assemble parts, prototypes, and sheet metal components while working closely with engineering teams and a senior model maker for direction and mentorship. This is not a heavy CAD role-more aligned with machining, fabrication, and shop work.What You Will Do / ResponsibilitiesBuild machine parts, assemblies, and sheet metal components from drawings or verbal directionReview blueprints, sketches, and specs to determine fabrication process and materialsOperate various shop equipment safely and efficientlySupport prototype builds and engineering development effortsCollaborate with engineering teams to clarify designs and requirementsMaintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safety standardsAssist with tool room and material organizationHelp train or support others as neededDay-to-DayFabricating parts and components using shop equipmentOperating tools such as drill presses, punch presses, shears, brakes, welding/brazing equipmentPerforming assembly work (sheet metal, structural builds, Unistrut, etc.)Working off drawings, sketches, and verbal instructionsAssisting with 3D printing tasks (as needed)Communicating with engineers to clarify design intentLight organization and stocking of shop/tool roomMust HavesStrong attendance and reliability (critical for this role)Safety-first mindset working around machinery and fabrication tools1–2 years of hands-on experience OR 2-year technical degree (machining, HVAC, construction, etc.)Experience with shop tools / fabrication equipmentAbility to follow blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructionsWillingness to learn and be coached by a senior model makerNice to HavesWelding and/or brazing experience (big plus)HVAC or refrigeration backgroundSheet metal fabrication experienceExposure to 3D printing or CAD/modelingExperience with copper tube bendingCarpentry or construction experience (wood framing, etc.)Strong communication skills with engineering teams
