Software Engineer

Plus500 is looking for a full-time Software Engineer to join the team in a remote-hybrid position in our Itasca, IL office. Mondays and Wednesdays in Itasca, the rest of the week remote. The Group: Plus500 is a global multi-asset fintech group operating technology-based trading platforms. Plus500 offers customers a range of trading products, including Over-The-Counter ("OTC") and share dealing, as well as futures and options on futures in the US.The Position: We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing platform engineering team. This is a hands-on role focused on building and maintaining our futures trading platform. Equivalent experience considered.Job Requirements: Working knowledge of C#, Java, or a similar object-oriented languageSolid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and common design patternsFamiliarity with SQL and relational databasesComfort with Git and standard server-side debuggingCompetency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub CopilotExposure to the .NET ecosystem (ASP.NET, Entity Framework, or similar) preferredCoursework, internships, or projects involving distributed systems, networking, or low-latency code is a plusInterest in financial markets or trading systems strongly preferredFamiliarity with the FIX protocol is a plusExperience with Linux, Docker, or basic infrastructure tooling is a plusJob Responsibilities:Develop and maintain core trading platform services in C# and .NETImplement and extend features across order entry, market data, and account operationsWrite and tune SQL Server queries and stored procedures against trading databasesDiagnose and resolve production issues alongside senior engineersContribute to internal tools used by support, operations, and brokerage staffParticipate in design discussions and code reviewsCollaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders across functional domainsSoft Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesTakes ownership and sees problems through to resolutionCommunicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersThrives in a fast-paced environment with competing prioritiesCollaborative with a drive for continuous improvement
